After another extended break to catch their breath and get more familiar with their new coach, Atlanta United return to MLS action still seeking their first victory. The New England Revolution is the next opponent for the Five Stripes to attempt to snap out of their early season funk against.
With their 0-2-2 starts, there has been much frustration and few causes for optimism. But the fact remains, this Atlanta United team has all the talent anyone in MLS can ask for. It’s just a matter of getting on the same page and understanding a new system. Hopefully we start to see signs of that tonight.
The Revs haven’t been great to start the season, either. They’ve won just once in six tries, with four losses. Atlanta has yet to lose to New England in their two-year existence. Last season, in this same fixture, Kevin Kratz conceded a very late penalty to allow the Revs to equalize.
There has been some good and bad news this week regarding injuries. Both Pity Martinez and Franco Escobar have been deemed fit for selection this week. Meanwhile, Mikey Ambrose is set to miss more than a month with a leg injury.
Let’s get a win, please. Go team.
