MLS: Atlanta United FC at New England Revolution Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta United and manager Frank de Boer finally marked the win column in the 2019 MLS standings thanks to superb brace from Ezequiel Barco Saturday night in Foxborough, Mass., beating the New England Revolution 2-0. The win was as much a relief for Five Stripes fans as it was entertaining to watch, as the team amassed 19 shots and its largest output of offensive production so far this season — and it wasn’t close. The expected goals Atlanta created against New England (3.29) nearly matches the xG that the team amassed in its previous four league matches combined (3.91)

Man of the Match: Ezequiel Barco

Though the attacking midfielder didn’t start the match, his number was called early by de Boer to replace a concussed Eric Remedi in the 11th minute of the match. Though Atlanta was in fine flow in the brief time without him, the Argentine’s presence on the pitch changed the game. It culminated in Barco’s second goal — easily his best as an Atlanta United player and the team’s prettiest score of the season.
