Zyen Jones leaves Schalke for the USL

A short stay in Europe for the former Atlanta academy player.

Former Atlanta United Academy forward Zyen Jones has left Bundesliga club Schalke and has signed with the Charlotte Independence, the USL club announced on Friday.

Jones, 18, signed in Germany ahead of the current season and appeared for Schalke’s U-19 side in 18 matches.

The Clarkston native played for Atlanta’s U-16 and U-18 teams before leaving for Europe. He even played alongside Andrew Carleton and George Bello in the U-16 team that won the U.S. Soccer Development Academy championship in 2017.

Good luck to Zyen in this next chapter of his career.
