Welcome back to another exciting weekend of Major League Soccer where the two teams dead last in their respective conferences meet at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta United, sitting on five total points through six matches played, host the some-how-even-worse Colorado Rapids, who have just two — one, two — points through eight matches. What a matchup.
The Five Stripes are coming off of another disappointing result against FC Dallas last weekend. There were some encouraging signs, such as the attack creating dangerous chances. The last two performances have been better overall. Hopefully that continues and the positive tangible results follow.
On paper, Atlanta should be able to handle Colorado, who have been really, really, really bad. They got smacked, 4-1, by a less-than-impressive Chicago Fire team last weekend for their sixth loss of the season. A negative result in this one and some serious questions will start being asked, surely.
Atlanta has a relatively clean bill of health entering this one. George Bello, Kevin Kratz, Brandon Vazquez and Mikey Ambrose are the only ones listed on the injury report as out. This means that Eric Remedi will be available after suffering a concussion a couple of weeks ago in New England.
Go team.
