Lagos Kunga, the 20-year old forward and Homegrown player, has been loaned to Memphis 901 FC for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Kunga created buzz during his call-up with the US National Team after scoring one goal in four appearances during the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup quarterfinal run. Since signing with Atlanta, he made 31 appearances and scored five goals for ATL UTD 2 in 2018 and has two appearances so far in 2019.
“This is a good opportunity for Lagos to challenge himself in a new environment,” said Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra in a press release. “We believe in Lagos and will closely monitor his development during his time in Memphis.”
With playing time becoming harder to come by at Atlanta United 2, the loan to Memphis brings the opportunity for more minutes and experience which will hopefully pay dividends for his future with the Five Stripes.
