Atlanta United put the brakes on a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Minnesota United Wednesday night. The scoreline flattered the Five Stripes, but the performance on the whole was a needed rebound from the last two matches in which Atlanta looked second-best. Josef Martinez, Julian Gressel, Dion Periera and Franco Escobar all impressed, but none received your highest rating.
Man of the Match: Brad Guzan
A deserved reward for a player who saved the day for Atlanta. Minnesota’s best scoring opportunity came in the 74th minute when they found themselves trying to force a bouncing ball in front of the net into the goal. Brad Guzan’s three goal line saves on the sequence preserved Atlanta’s slim advantage in the game, and we know how they put it away in the waning moments.
