Atlanta United could be adding an attacking piece to help fill the void left by Ezequiel Barco and Josef Martinez as they participate with their national teams this summer, according to manager Frank de Boer.
Speaking to reporters at Atlanta United’s training ground Tuesday, Frank de Boer told media when questioned by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Doug Roberson that the team could be making an addition before the close of the Spring MLS transfer window. The window closes at 11:59 p.m. CT today, May 7.
Carlos Bocanegra was seen on the training ground while the players were warming up speaking privately to Frank de Boer. This is a rare occurence. The two team leaders spoke for about five minutes with Bocanegra seeming to be doing most of the talking while de Boer listened.
Atlanta’s squad is stretched thin at the moment with injuries to several reserve players like Brandon Vazquez and Kevin Kratz, while first team players George Bello and Ezequiel Barco are expected to miss all of Atlanta United’s congested May schedule.
Thoughts on who the player could be? We will likely find out soon.
