After a tumultuous media week for Atlanta United, Josef Martínez scored his ninth goal in six matches thanks to a Pity Martínez assist, but the combination wasn’t enough to vault Atlanta over a Seattle Sounders at Century Link Field. A Seattle team that was recently strengthened by the return of Nico Lodeiro, Raul Ruidiaz and Christian Roldan from the 2019 Copa America and Gold Cup, respectively.

Man of the Match: Josef Martínez

Seemingly every time Martínez scores, he earns the Dirty South Soccer community’s man of the match. Thus, he’s been winning these often recently. The Venezuelan striker now his seven goals in his last four league matches, vaulting him to second place in the MLS scoring table despite his 2019 starting off slower than is customary.
