Your results from Atlanta’s last gasp victory vs. an Eastern Conference title rival

MLS: D.C. United at Atlanta United FC Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta United is doing fun things right now, and I know y’all are liking what you’re seeing because we had about a 125% week-to-week increase in respondents to the player rating poll. The team’s win over D.C. United Sunday was as important for the vibe and atmosphere around the team as it is for Atlanta’s positioning in the Eastern Conference standings

Man of the Match: Pity Martínez

Qué loco que está. The Argentine came off the bench for the second straight game — perhaps a message sent by Frank de Boer — and Martínez responded by putting his body on the line to head home the winning goal in the 89th minute of the match. He wasn’t done, as he showed off one of his more vintage maneuvers with a classy flick to Josef Martínez, who doubled the lead to provide the cherry on top of a wonderful afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Five Stripes.
