After two consecutive home wins, Atlanta United was brought back down to Earth by the best team in MLS, losing 4-3 to LAFC at Banc of California Stadium Friday night. Atlanta was doomed by a 12-minute stretch in which the team shipped all four of the goals it conceded on the night. Down 4-1 in the first half, Atlanta battled back and made it a nail-biting finish, but in the end, the Five Stripes returned home without any points.
Man of the Match: Josef Martínez
Josef Martínez scored a goal, and therefore earns the community’s man of the match award. It’s the 8th consecutive game in which he’s scored, and he now has a chance to break his own record (which he shares with Diego Valeri) of scoring in nine straight MLS matches. Personally, I thought Ezequiel Barco was Atlanta United’s best player, but that’s just, like, my opinion, man.
