Atlanta United 3-1 San Jose Earthquakes: Post-match reaction

Atlanta United draws level against 10-man San Jose and loses Josef Martinez to injury

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at Atlanta United FC Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta United beat 10-man San Jose Earthquakes with late goals from Emerson Hyndman and Pity Martinez. That’s good. What’s not good is that the Five Stripes lost their talisman and reigning MLS MVP Josef Martinez with what appears to be a serious knee injury. Martinez collided with teammate Pity Martinez and twisted his knee on the way to the ground that eventually left the Venezuelan in tears on the sidelines before being stretchered off. Neat.
