It just dawned on me how many of us give our time and effort for nothing in return.

Don't get me wrong, I know there is value, real and otherwise, in giving your best. Most of us do it because it's just who we are. It's not about anyone else. But it's crazy how many people contribute positively to the world and get zero recs.
