Gresselmania in Atlanta is no more.

Atlanta United officially parted ways with Julian Gressel after failing to come to an agreement on a new contract.

Gressel took to social media expressing his love for the city and Atlanta United’s fans following the official announcement.

Julian Gressel had an incredible impact on this team from the second he joined the squad. In his three years, he scored 17 goals and assisted in 34 for the Five Stripes. He was a fixture for Atlanta United on the right side, and his production will be incredibly difficult for the front office to replace.

“We want to thank Julian for his service to our club over the past three seasons,” Carlos Bocanegra told the media. “Coming out of college, Julian played an important role in building our team and helping the club win three major trophies. We wish him luck in his future.”

He was beloved by fans and he, in return, loved them. As much as Gressel the player will be tough to replace, it may be even tougher to replace the passion and effort he gave the city and its fans.

Best of luck to Julian in the next stage of his career.
