Atlanta United continues to fill out the back end of its roster by signing striker Adam Jahn from the Phoenix Rising in USL. A source said Atlanta United will pay a nominal transfer fee to the Rising, with homegrown player Lagos Kunga heading to Phoenix on loan.
Jahn had by far the best season of his career in 2019, scoring 17 times for the Rising last year. Prior to last year, the best goalscoring season of his career was seven goals with the Sacramento Republic. But Jahn knows how to score in Mercedes-Benz Stadium — he tucked home a penalty kick for the Columbus Crew that knocked Atlanta United out of the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Jahn is a big-bodied, target man style of forward that theoretically gives Atlanta a different option up top. Frank de Boer has already alluded to the possibility of playing Tito Villalba as a central forward if needed.
