Atlanta United announced their preseason schedule for 2020 today. It all kicks off on Monday when the Five Stripes convene for the official start of preseason. Their preparation for their first match against Motagua in the Concacaf Champions League on February 18 will include four different friendlies and two training camps.
After a week at the team’s training facilities to open up camp, they’ll travel down Bradenton, Florida to train at the IMG Academy. There, they will play three different opponents, two from MLS and one from Sweden. First, they’ll take on the Red Bulls on January 24 then the Philadelphia Union on January. They finish up their three-match stretch in Florida with an interesting matchup with Swedish side IF Elfsborg.
All three friendlies in Florida will be closed to the public. It is not known yet if they will be live streamed.
A week later, the team travels to Alabama for a Southeastern clash with USL Championship outfit Birmingham Legion FC.
Following their final official preseason friendly, they head down to Guadalajara, Mexico for a brief training stint before returning home to prepare for their first competitive match of the season.
