Atlanta United announced a couple of moves regarding some fringe players today.
Dion Pereira’s contract with the club has been terminated. Pereira’s desire was to return home and the club was unable to find an interested buyer, so they agreed to cut him loose to explore other opportunities.

“After speaking with Dion, we agreed that this was the best solution as he expressed an interest in returning to England for personal reasons,” said Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra. “We thank Dion for his contributions to the club and wish him the best moving forward.”
Pereira joined the club nearly a year ago to the day (January 15, 2019) from Watford. His signing was always looked at as one for the future. Unfortunately it just didn’t work out for him in Atlanta. He received a handful of chances off the bench and even started seven times in his only season, providing one assist during those minutes.
Another less surprising move announced today is that Jon Gallagher’s loan to Aberdeen FC has been extended until the end of the Scottish Premier League season. This was expected after Gallagher has become a regular in Scotland.
