Despite the expansion team-ness of David Beckham’s club, this season has yet to see Atlanta United claim a victory over Inter Miami through three matches. We’ll see if the Five Stripes can finally shake off the Herons tonight as they travel down to Ft. Lauderdale.
We’ll also see Gonzalo Higuain taking the opposite side of the pitch, a headlining addition to Miami since the last meeting between the two squads. Atlanta’s own addition, Marcelino Moreno, will hopefully continue to impress after his exciting Saturday debut. The attack of Atlanta United will also try to up their output against the LGP-led defense after two consecutive shutouts to Orlando and NYRB. It looks like Cubo Torres is back in training, but it’s not likely he makes the trip so soon after recovering from his sprained knee.
With both teams separated by only a point and fighting to get above the infamous red line, this match may have higher stakes than usual. Can Atlanta get it done in South Florida? How will Moreno play after finally training alongside his teammates? Will the defense keep Higuain quiet for 90 minutes?
