Club Tijuana are exploring options seeking the signing of Fernando Meza after only one season at Atlanta United ahead of the 2021 Liga MX clausura, according to a report from Mexican outlet El Imparcial.
Quieren a Fernando Meza

The report states that prior to flipping Meza to Atlanta immediately after acquiring him from Necaxa, Xolos secured a percentage of his “card” that I presume to mean his future transfer value (our Spanish speaking readers may be able to provide some context for us here). Essentially, it presumably gives Tijuana a discount on his potential return.
The relationships between all the parties involved revved up this winter before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Club Tijuana sent Meza to Atlanta this January as part of an exchange that sent Leandro Gonzalez Pirez to the Liga MX club. Leandro Gonzalez has since joined Inter Miami. As the world turns.
As for the veracity of the report, I have no reason to doubt this is a very real possibility. After struggling to settle into the team during a chaotic year, one can certainly understand why the club may want to part ways now, and why Meza would want to return to a country he’s called home for years. And while Xolos may admit there are better defenders on the market, Meza is likely the most cost-efficient option, and one that would fit in quickly in the team during the winter transfer window.
