Atlanta United experienced its most heartbreaking loss of the season last Saturday against DC United, ironically with fans in attendance to watch the team for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Now, there’s zero room for error.

My predicted starting XI vs. Orlando City SC:

I added Laurence Wyke to the starting XI because of the uncertainty of central defenders available to Stephen Glass. According to the team’s injury report released yesterday, Miles Robinson is not medically cleared to play tonight. It appears that he’s the player who tested positive for COVID-19 announced Monday, meaning the Five Stripes will certainly be without a key player at the back. Anton Walkes and Franco Escobar were not in the squad in Saturday’s loss vs. DC United, most likely due to small injuries.
If either Escobar or Walkes are both fit to play, they will most likely start the match giving Glass more room to make adjustments following Saturday’s loss.
In midfield, any of Jeff Larentowicz, Eric Remedi or Mo Adams could start in the holding role. Adams just came off a lot of running a couple nights ago, so he seems unlikeliest of the three to start. Remedi is probably the highest variance player to use, but Atlanta may need the mobility he has over Larentowicz, who would be the safest option.
In the attack, Gallagher’s production should get him on the field, and he could play on the wing or up top. One thing is certain: the team cannot afford to start Cubo Torres in his current form. Adam Jahn may be the most pragmatic option to help the team get a goal off a cross or set piece.
