Atlanta United takes to the pitch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for almost certainly the last time this year as the 2020 MLS regular season approaches its end. The team is down, very down after Wednesday’s 4-1 loss in Orlando, but still not out, sitting three points back from the playoff line and 10th place Chicago. Fortunately, the opponent for tonight is the one team in the league that has a PPG less than Atlanta’s, last place FC Cincinnati. However, as we saw with D.C. United a week ago, playing the last place team at home doesn’t really mean much anymore. Cincy landed the finishing blow to de Boer’s tenure at the MLS is Back tournament, will they do the same to the Five Stripes playoff hopes tonight? Or does the back against the wall pressure of a match like this lead to a rebounding result?
