Predicting Atlanta United’s starting XI vs FC Cincinnati

Tonight presents another “must-win” game (this time we mean it!) for hopes of making the playoffs.

Atlanta United once again lost in midweek match vs. Orlando City — this time a one-sided 4-1 result that left Five Stripes fans even more doubtful than they previously were of making the playoffs this season.

Atlanta United’s starting XI vs. Orlando:

Glass needs a spark or practically anything to get this squad back on track. If they don’t make the playoffs, that might be a blessing in disguise, but Atlanta United fans can’t help but wish the team to finish these last two games on a high note.

My predicted starting XI:

With Miles Robinson still out and Franco Escobar questionable to get into the starting XI after a couple of weeks out, Glass will most likely come out with the same backline as he did vs. Orlando.

However if Escobar is fit enough to play and ready to start, he will most likely play as a center-back over Fernando Meza.

Mo Adams as a defensive midfielder hasn’t really impressed me (though clearly Stephen Glass begs to differ), and with Atlanta United conceding six goals in two games he’s played in that position, something has to change in that midfield. I’d expect Glass to place Jeff Larentowicz back into that starting lineup, or maybe give Eric Remedi a chance since he’s much more fresh and could offer a little more going forward against an FC Cincinnati side likely to sit in a deep block.

Cubo Torres finally scored his first goal for the Five Stripes, which could have sparked some confidence and momentum he needed.
