Atlanta United today announced it has acquired a 2021 international roster spot from Nashville SC in exchange for $175,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM).
Last night, it was reported by ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle that the team traded winger Jon Gallagher for $225k in GAM.
Multiple sources tell ESPN that #AustinFC has acquired M/F Jon Gallagher from #ATLUTD for as much as $225k in GAM (unclear at the moment how much up front). Deal will go through when 1/2 day trade window opens tomorrow.

The team now has two “open” international slots. Laurence Wyke and Manuel Castro, both of whom are no longer on the roster, occupied international slots in 2020. Paraguayan forward Erik Lopez, whom the club signed last August, will fill one of the vacated slots, leaving two currently available.
While we obviously don’t know exactly what the team has in store for the January transfer window, these moves set the table for several potential international acquisitions in what could be a considerably revamped squad for the team’s next manager in 2021. All reports point to Gabriel Heinze taking the helm coming from Velez Sarsfield, and it wouldn’t be crazy to think that the Argentine may have some players in mind he’d like to bring with him to Atlanta.
