Early in Atlanta United’s loss to Leones Negros on impromptu penalty kicks, center back Miles Robinson was forced off the field with some sort of injury. Homegrown defender George Campbell replaced the 2019 MLS Defender of the Year runner-up before the 20th minute.
So far, there has been no official update on what exactly Robinson’s injury is or the severity of it. He was able to walk off the field on his own after grabbing his leg in pain.
The timing is pretty bad for Atlanta who will kick off their competitive schedule in a week’s time against Honduran side Motagua in the Concacaf Champions League.
Atlanta’s overall performance in the match was quite disappointing for the final tune-up. They had trouble creating attacking chances and gave up a fair amount of clear chances on the other end. If not for some woeful execution in the final third from their opponents, they surely would’ve lost in regulation.
Frank de Boer will have some decisions to make in the next week, especially if Robinson has to miss some time.
We’ll update Miles’ status as soon as we can.
For now, comment below with your thoughts on the match and what the team needs to improve on ahead of Motagua.
