We ready.

It was just over a month ago that Atlanta United announced that star striker and heart of the franchise Josef Martinez had undergone successful knee surgery to repair a torn ligament. While his recovery and rehab time isn’t exactly known, it’s clear that the Venezuelan talisman is ready to put in the work it takes to come back as strong as ever.

Josef posted a short video on his social media accounts on Thursday of him doing a light workout on a stationary bike.

While he’s clearly not ready to start moving his knee, he’s looks determined to stay in shape during his down time.

That hair color was quite startling to see, also. I can’t recall a time during his stint in Atlanta that we’ve seen his true hair color. It looks quite good!

The trademark angry emoji that accompanies the tweet is all you really need to know about Josef and his personality. We’ve experienced three seasons of pure unadulterated passion and fierceness. I have no doubt he’s going to pour that same energy into coming back from this setback.

Envisioning a Josef Martinez that is more motivated than ever returning against helpless MLS defenses should hopefully be enough to get you through this dreadful time and thinking about the great things coming in the future.
