They’re back!

Atlanta United are back ... well, sort of. The team officially returned to the training fields on Wednesday under extreme caution and drastic measures taken due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The team was kind enough to send out a batch of photos and videos from the team’s first session since the MLS season was suspended nearly two months ago.

Pity Martinez had a few words on returning to the training field:

“Very happy (to be back). They’ve taken very good measures at the club to take care of us and the staff also. As long as we’re being careful it’s perfect because we have families and we have to protect them. It’s a good start for everything that we’re going through, which is very difficult.”

While the resumption of the MLS season is still way up in the air, it’s nice to see the first step being taken. We can only hope the precautions being taken help facilitate a return to action sooner than later.

Here’s a full video of the first day’s action put together by the team:

Darren Eales is scheduled to speak to the media tomorrow via a video call. Stay tuned to DSS to learn any new developments.
