As we patiently wait for July 8 and the MLS is Back Tournament to begin (and wonder if it’ll still happen), betting odds are starting to emerge.
According to Draft Kings, LAFC are the heavy favorites to walk out of Orlando with bragging rights and a CCL spot. The reigning Supporters’ Shield holders lead the way with +350 odds.
In a distant second at +900 is Eastern conference finalists from last year and breaker of Atlanta hearts, Toronto FC. This one seems like a bit of a stretch but recency bias is a fickle beast.
Atlanta United claim the third position with +1100 odds. This seems about right with the Five Stripes’ tumultuous offseason and mixed bag to start their competitive schedule in 2020. This new look squad without Josef Martinez is very much an unknown commodity as this point.
The odds get kind of confusing after the top three with the New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, and FC Dallas falling in line. Current MLS Cup Champions Seattle Sounders have seemingly been forgotten about, having been given +1600 odds to win it all, tied for seventh best chances.
Betting odds, especially for MLS, usually mean very little. But, it’s always fun to see what a neutral entity has to say in regards to prognosticating outcomes we’re invested in.
