Good morning, y’all. Depending on when you’re waking up, we might be minutes away from an Atlanta United match. It might still be too early to think clearly but trust me, this really is happening.

Atlanta United and FC Cincinnati are set to duke it out in a battle of Round One losers in an important match to decide whether this MLS is Back tournament really matters or not. Cincy, emerging from Hell is Real with a 4-0 humbling from their Columbus neighbors, had the worse of the Saturday results, but both squads will need a win if they want a healthy chance of progressing from Group E into the Round of 16.

The FC Cincinnati side the Five Stripes beat 2-1 back in the before times of March 7th have made some big changes since, namely finding a Dutch manager of their own in Jaap Stam. The ex-Premier League and Serie A player also played next to one Frank de Boer in the Dutch national team back line, which will perhaps add some friendly competition to the match. We are also likely to see two United alums taking the other end of the field in Greg Garza and Brandon Vasquez, who both appeared in the previous match for Cincy.

Atlanta is looking to rebound as well following their own (less severe) loss to NYRB last weekend. What changes might de Boer make? Will the Josef-less attack find its footing?

As you grab coffee and readjust to the world around you, check out our match preview and lineup prediction for the match, then come join us in here as we watch what is likely to go down as the weirdest-timed Atlanta United match ever.
