It may be time to roll up the welcome mat and stick it back in the closet as it seems Jonathan Gonzalez will not be joining Atlanta United any time soon.
According to a report from Diego Medina of TUDN, Monterrey has rejected Atlanta’s latest offer for the midfielder and he looks set to stay in Mexico until January.
The report states that the two clubs could not agree on the financials of the deal.
Medina says that Atlanta United have ended their pursuit of Gonzalez for now, but could re-enter the race in January when several other teams could also be bidding for his services.
The Five Stripes have been linked to a few defensive midfielders, but nothing has materialized as of yet. The transfer window in MLS just opened and will be open until October should the club decide to make a move to sure up their midfield.
