Update 8/26: Pity Martinez (45%) has defeated Darlington Nagbe (30%) to take home the MLS Goal of the Week award. Much to the dismay of everyone who doesn’t cheer for Atlanta United.
The first regular season game back from the restart and Atlanta United are returning to some kind of normalcy. Fans may not be allowed into Mercedes-Benz Stadium and a new coaching staff may be a bit weird still, but there’s nothing like a good, old-fashioned online poll to rig.
That’s right. Pity Martinez has predictably been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week. While his first goal was special, it’s his second strike, a left-footed rocket from the top of the box, that has been dubbed worthy of being one of five candidates up for the award.
WHAT A STRIKE

Pity joins Toronto FC’s Pablo Piatti, Real Salt Lake’s Damir Kreilach, Seattle Sounders’ Raul Ruidiaz and some guy from Columbus Crew on the ballot.
So maybe after watching each goal there may be better options than Pity’s, but that hasn’t stopped us before. We’ve all probably said some not so nice things about Pity Martinez in the last 18 months considering he’s had some pretty rough patches. There’s no better way to apologize and declare our unconditional love than to win him an undeserved internet award. VOTE HERE NOW.
