For at least one night, all was right in the world again as Atlanta United scored some goals and defeated a regional MLS rival in Nashville SC 2-0 Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It wasn’t perfect, but a win is a win and it gives Atlanta, now fourth in the Eatern Conference standings, a platform to build on going forward.

Man of the Match: Pity Martinez

Pity Martinez showed his class and ability to create magic Saturday night with two goals of the highest order. But what makes the goals even better is that they were two completely different types of finishes—one, a nifty touch to take down a long ball in stride, leave a defender for dead and poke one past the goalkeeper, the other an absolute thunderbastard from the edge of the area. And on a personal level, it’s refreshing to not have to type a paragraph here about how Brad Guzan saved Atlanta from a much worse potential scoreline.
