MLS issues one-game suspension for Franco Escobar

MLS’s disciplinary committee levies retroactive punishment.

MLS: Nashville SC at Atlanta United FC Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Franco Escobar has been suspended for one match by the MLS Disciplinary Committee following an incident involving Nashville SC’s Dominique Badji in Atlanta United’s 2-0 win Saturday.

Here is the play in question:

Stephen Glass’s first choice right back will not be available when Atlanta travels to Miami for it’s next regular season match on Wednesday, and the status of center back Fernando Meza is also uncertain. The Argentine defender was subbed off with an apparent knee injury at halftime of Saturday’s win. And Miles Robinson, who entered the game for Meza, was unable to start for physical reasons.

Safe to say, Stephen Glass’s managerial skills will be tested in two days’ time.
