Predicting Atlanta United’s Starting XI vs Inter Miami CF

Who will be in the lineup tonight in Miami?

Atlanta United started the resumed MLS season with a win against Nashville SC 2-0 at the Mercedes-Benz with Pity scoring the brace. The lineup was a bit surprising, but with limitations to the squad through Ezequiel Braco’s “knock” (his status for tonight’s match is unknown at time of writing) and Miles Robinson’s lack of fitness, it made sense.

This was how Atlanta lined up vs. Nashville:

Here are a couple options interim manager Stephen Glass can go with tonight vs. Inter Miami:

Defense:

Both Escobar and Meza are out, so it’ll be interesting to see if Glass uses a back three or back four against Miami. Wyke is a candidate to start for Escobar, as he’s played both positions at times with Atlanta United 2 under Stephen Glass. In this situation, it stands to reason that Glass would lean on a player he’s worked with before. Not to mantion, Wyke had two good performances up until his injury and the suspension of the season in March.

Midfield:

Atlanta’s midfield looked a lot better on Sunday night, covering more spaces between them and the defenders. I’m still a strong believer that a 4-3-3 will work perfectly for this squad, and it can give a player like Hyndman the freedom to push forward and roam around on the field. Rossetto also looked comfortable, which is also a good sign for Atlanta United fans considering how little we saw him in Orlando.

Attack:

Pity was looking like his old self against Nashville, and although it was only one game, things are starting to look good. Glass played him on the left-wing where Pity felt more comfortable and resulted in him having a two-goal man of the match performance.

Cubo played only ten minutes against Nashville, slowly getting into match fitness, so it’s unknown if he’s fit enough to start. If not, Jahn would still be the traditional 9 in the box, but maybe Glass can give Castro another try.
