Could Atlanta United sell another Designated Player during this transfer window? With Pity Martinez’s transfer to Saudi Arabia almost complete rumors have begun swirling about the possible departure of Ezequiel Barco.

Multiple reports have popped up in the past few days linking the 21-year-old to Europa League champions Sevilla. Spanish outlet Es Noticia was the first to report that Barco was drawing interest from the La Liga side. You’ll have to forgive us for doubting them, seeing as they used a picture of Yamil Asad (pour one out) as the lead image.

However, the links kept coming with Italian site Calcio Mercato confirming the report and adding that Fiorentina are also still interested in Atlanta’s youngest DP. Sevilla Director of Football Monchi has reportedly been keeping tabs on Barco for quite some time.

The latest report comes from journalist Jorge Baravalle who claims that Sevilla are indeed preparing to submit a bid for Barco.

The question now becomes what kind of money would it take to entice Atlanta United to sell. Their intentions with Barco have always been to send him to Europe eventually, so we know they will do it if their price is met. It reportedly took around $15 million for Atlanta to sign him back in 2018. Could a fee of around $20 million be enough or will they ask for more?

Silly season is in full effect and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon for the Five Stripes. Let’s see what happens.
