One week ago, Atlanta United was defeated by Orlando City for the first time by a score of 3-1, in Mercedes-Benz Stadium no less. While major developments took place in the following days, chances remain bleak for the Five Stripes to provide a much better performance on the road.
A now Pity-less Atlanta kicks off a three match away stretch, their first MLS away days since pre-shutdown. The preceding home matches, while beginning with optimism after the 2-0 win over Nashville, quickly became less than inspiring, the most recent of which being a sluggish 0-0 draw against Inter Miami. Not quite the stuff you’d want to show off on national FOX, but hey, there’s no going back now.
But of course, nothing’s in stone until the final whistle blows. Maybe we get to see more of Jurgen Damm, who has been limited to 24 total minutes thus far and already grabbed an assist. Maybe Glass goes out with some fully experimental lineup, or maybe Atlanta turns into the 2018 Sounders and spends 90 minutes killing off the clock. Really, the possibilities are endless.
