LOGICAL and REASONABLE: New year, new Atlanta United, new kit

This should be an easy win

It’s 2021 and it’s time to look forward. One of the things Atlanta United fans have been most looking forward to is having a new home kit. This anticipation has been present since the moment the nine stripe kit was unveiled. Luckily, every two years MLS foists a new home kit on every team and with 2021 being a year that Atlanta United is re-launching, a new home kit is on the horizon.

Of course there are some design criteria that Atlanta United fans have voiced some expectations of. Mainly that the kits have more than four stripes but less than six that are black and red. Personally, I would enjoy gold on the shoulders, but the five stripe thing would be the main marker that it was an Atlanta United jersey. Let’s take a look at some other kits featuring black and red that Atlanta can take inspiration from.

There’s something like this, an old Adidas number that was the AC Milan third kit in 2017.

Would they? Could they? Maybe the “re-launch” will include a rebranded nickname, we’re the Five Hoops now!

These aren’t really stripes as much as they are half stripes, but you could arrange five of them in a way that looked like stripes and that might be nice.

If the team insists on keeping up with the nine or 13 or more stripes than that or something, maybe this would be a direction to go in...

So dear readers, I ask - when the 2021 kit drops, what do you want it to look like? Personally, I don’t mind the Bournemouth number if the team wants to do something different. I bet they’ll sell a whole mess of Emerson Hyndman no. 20 shirts!
