Atlanta United emphatically got into the playoffs after a dominant second half and road win in Cincinnati on Decision Day. The win was sealed by a worldie from Josef Martinez, a score that was nominated for Goal of the Week.

I suppose he has to win Goal of the Week before it wins Goal of the Year and the Puskas Award.

The goal was a milestone of sorts for Josef as he seemly tries a bicycle kick every game. This isn’t quite that, but it was still a once in a career type goal. That it gave Atlanta United a win and bumped them up in the playoff rankings makes it all the more special.

Objectively, every MLS fan should vote for this goal and it should be a 100% to 0% win for Josef. Sadly, there is hometown bias amongst voters who can’t be honest with themselves about what they see from Atlanta United’s goal scoring ability, so I encourage all True 17s to take to the internet and give Josef what is rightfully his.
