Kevin Kratz to join Atlanta United Academy as Technical Instructor

Kevin Kratz joins academy’s coaching staff

According to Doug Roberson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former-Atlanta United free-kick specialist Kevin Kratz will be returning to the club as a Technical Advisor.

Kratz was an often-used midfield substitute for the Five Stripes, providing highlight-reel set-piece shots on goal, including a game-winner against Montreal on 28 April 2018. Kratz was a fan favorite and even after departing the club following the 2018 season, Kratz remained active in the Atlanta area.

Now, it seems, Kratz will begin the next stage of his career back with Atlanta United.

While we have yet to see what kind of coach Kratz can be, we can surely expect him to pass along some of his free-kick magic to the next generation of Atlanta United players.

Welcome back, Kevin Kratz.

*Dirty South Soccer can neither confirm or deny that this arrangement was written into the contract that mandated the midfielder was used for five minutes in 80% of matches under former head coach Tata Martino.
