Atlanta United 2 announced today it has signed goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo on loan from Lanus.
It’s a deal that’s been long in the making as fans have awaited an announcemenet since Cesar Luis Merlo reported this bit of news last year around the same time Atlanta acquired Marcelino Moreno from the same club.
Novo brings an abundance of international experience with him to Atlanta. He is a regular starter for Argentina with the U-15 and U-17 Youth National Teams at the 2019 U-17 World Cup and the U-17 South American Championships in 2019 where he tallied five clean sheets in eight matches.
Like with most young goalkeepers, his peak value and his prime will arrive a few years later than field players so to have him already garnering this kind of attention and valuation points to a long-term commitment from Atlanta United and a potential future with a high profile European club.
