Atlanta United played the third of its four preseason “games” Wednesday at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground. They are “games” insofar as they are played against a different team in 11 vs. 11 periods. Here’s what the club posted Wednesday night.

Three goals were shown in this highlight package by my count: Two of them involved Paraguayan teenager Erik Lopez who headed home a Jake Mulraney cross and provided an assist for Miles Robinson on a cutback inside the box.
Encouragingly, it was Josef Martinez who scored the third goal shown here, with a tap in after a Brooks Lennon fizzed cross from the right side. It was particularly good to see Josef take part in this session fully after he came off at an awkward moment in Saturday’s preseason game against the Charleston Battery. Martinez didn’t show an apparent injury, but after playing the 30-minute third period in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, he exited the game moments into the fourth and final 30-minute quarter.
The team will have one final tuneup this Saturday when they play the Birmingham Legion in Alabama.
