Ezequiel Barco wins MLS Goal of the Week

Duh.

MLS: Chicago Fire at Atlanta United FC Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Fans were allowed to return to Mercedes-Benz Stadium this past weekend to see Atlanta United defeat the Chicago Fire. Now it’s time for Five Stripes supporters to return to their rightful place atop the MLS digital world.

Ezequiel Barco’s wondergoal that opened the scoring in the first half against the Fire has predictably been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week. It’s been a while since Atlanta United have been regularly nominated for these fan-voted weekly awards. In the past the fans have shown up in droves to win nearly every online vote possible. It’s time to get this train back on the tracks in all facets. With the team finally looking good again, it’s now our turn to show that Atlanta’s supporters are still kings of the online polls.

Click on the poll in the tweet below to vote for Barco’s sensational strike and to make sure he gets the award he justly deserves. Vamos ATL!

UPDATE: HE WON BABBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

With nearly 69% of the vote, Ezequiel Barco won the championship for best goal literally ever scored ever in the history of Atlanta United and the fourth-best in the history of the Piedmont region of Georgia, a thing we used to learn about in school. Like have you ever even considered that we learned all about the “regions” of Georgia in school and it has never once come up outside of that. I have not once been in a position where I was like, OH DANG. I’M IN THE VALLEY AND RIDGE REGION AND MY LIFE HINGES ON IT. They didn’t even teach it right. The real Georgia regions are this: Atlanta, “Atlanta”, That praline place on River Street, Islands w/people, Islands w/horses, “I think that’s near Valdosta?”, Frank Thomas played baseball here, Places you say you’re definitely gonna hike one day but won’t, Pretty much Florida, Pretty much Alabama and Pretty much Tennessee. Anyway, hey, anyone remember that Clear & Obvious section? What happened to it? Site has been way better since it went away. Oh well.

Tin Cup is a garbage movie.

Congrats to Ezequiel!
