“Jack joined us in Orlando for last year’s Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League and showed that he can perform at this level,” Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said in the team’s press release.
The Newcastle, England native was a four-year starter at Georgia Gwinnett College from 2014-2017 where he was among the program’s most accomplished players. He parlayed that success and two years playing for the Georgia Revolution in the NPSL into a deal with Atlanta United 2 in 2020.
Gurr played well in a disrupted 2020 season, scoring once and assisting three times in 16 games from his right back position. He was selected by then-manager Stephen Glass to train with the first team ahead of Atlanta’s Concacaf Champions League match against Club America in December. He not only made the team, but went on to play 14 minutes in the game.
Gurr’s quality of first touch and passing vision allows him to use the ball in effective ways on the right side.
