Ahead of the 2021 Copa America tournament, the Venezuelan National Team released a preliminary roster of players who could be called into camp. That roster includes Josef Martinez and Ronald Hernandez.

Due to this being a preliminary roster, players are not guaranteed to participate in the tournament and could still be held back by their club or scratched from the final roster. Atlanta United is rightfully concerned about the continued health of their most important player, so it would not be a surprise if the club does everything in their power to prevent him from going. On the other hand, Ronald Hernandez needs all of the minutes and high-quality competition that he can get after wasting a season at Aberdeen. Inclusion in a high-profile tournament for his national team could be just what he needs to get back up to speed for the remainder of the MLS season.
This news follows an earlier announcement that FOX acquired all English-language rights to the tournament for the next six years.
