Atlanta United 2 midfielder Aiden McFadden was today given the nod as the USL Championship’s Player of the Week. This came as no real surprise — McFadden scored a brace of braces this week, putting 2 past FC Tulsa’s Sean Lewis in a 5-0 thumping and then both Atlanta United 2 goals past Memphis 901’s John Berner, including a stoppage time score to salvage a draw.
McFadden’s four goals in a total of 5 games (his entire professional career to date) put him in a 4-way tie for second in the Championship behind Santiago Patiño of San Antonio, who maintained his Golden Boot lead with an early score against Birmingham Legion last Saturday. Coincidentally, the 2s play the Legion this Sunday in Kennesaw at 3:30pm.
Also making the Team of the Week was Connor Stanley, who was included on the bench. The 19-year-old Manchester United academy product and loanee assisted on McFadden’s first goal of the week.
Congrats to both of these guys!
