Atlanta United fans are probably sick of seeing players score goals in the last minute of games to draw matches. However there was one scored on Sunday afternoon that Five Stripes supporters can appreciate.
Atlanta United loanee Ronald Hernandez played the role of hero for the Venezuelan national team in their Copa America group match against Ecuador with a last-gasp equalizer. His perfectly placed header at the far post earned his side a crucial point towards qualification to the knockout rounds.

With Josef Martinez sidelined due to a positive coronavirus test Venezuela have struggled to score goals. However, Hernandez’s late equalizer gives them some hope with one more group stage match remaining against Peru. If they can get some points from that match they have a chance of advancing.
For Hernandez, despite not yet appearing for Atlanta United in an MLS match, this should hopefully help his confidence level upon his return from international duty.
