Atlanta United announced today that one of it’s legendary former players, Jeff Larentowicz, will be in the broadcast booth alongside Kevin Egan and Studio host Jillian Sakovits for Sunday’s match against New York Red Bulls at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Mo Edu, Egan’s usual in-game commentator partner, will be covering Copa America action.

Larentowicz is starting to break into the media game in his first year of retirement, having teamed up with Jon Nelson calling an Atlanta United 2 match earlier this season. If you know anything about Larentowicz, you’ll know you can expect some excellent insight from a player with more MLS minutes than all but a couple players in history.

Additionally, Larentowicz will join Nelson once again July 3rd to call Atlanta United 2’s home game against Memphis 901 at Fifth-Third Bank Stadium.

I love this — in part because it’s always good to see a fan favorite who retired stay attached to the team in some capacity. But Jeff explains the game very well and I’m sure we’ll all learn a thing or two come Sunday.
