As if Atlanta United fans needed any additional reason to tune into tomorrow night’s match against Toronto FC to see if the team can win it’s third game on the bounce, it’ll also be the first opportunity to see the team’s new designated player, Luiz Araujo.
Club President Darren Eales said in a radio interview Tuesday afternoon with 92.9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell (I’m a company man) that the Brazilian’s visa paperwork has finally been completed and approved. Barring unforeseen circumstances, he’ll be in the matchday squad.
Luiz Araújo's visa has cleared and he will be available for selection tomorrow, according to Darren Eales' interview with @DukesandBell929 this afternoon.

This means that Wednesday’s match could give us more insight into how Araujo will be utilized in the team. The player is fit from preseason participation with his former club Lille OSC, and the team is likely to want to get him considerable minutes — potentially starting — to keep him as match fit as possible. But the question remains as to how Rob Valentino (in concert with Gonzalo Pineda) will use him in a team with three center backs in good form on top of a fully firing Marcelino Moreno and Ezequiel Barco. Wednesday night will give us some clues.
