Final Whistle Thoughts
Atlanta United’s winning streak had to end at some point, it’s just a shame that it had to happen Saturday to Nashville SC in new head coach Gonzalo Pineda’s first match in charge. To be fair, it was a clinical performance from Nashville, who stayed organized the entire game and didn’t allow a single clear cut chance to the Five Stripes. It’s the reason why Nashville has lost only twice all season, making them the toughest team to beat in MLS.
There were *some promising signs for Atlanta. Luiz Araujo glided past defenders at times but simply couldn’t find composure in front of goal. Pineda also changed the shape with 15 minutes to play, an encouraging sign that the team is already comfortable making such a tactical change.
