Atlanta United is set to open its Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground to selected fans representing various supporters groups to watch a team training session on Tuesday, Sept. 21, according to a team press release. This is the first time in the club’s history that fans registered with the club’s official supporters sections will have the chance to watch the Five Stripes train.

It’s important to note that the general public will not be permitted to watch the training session.

Those who go to watch Atlanta United’s training session will march to the training ground from the Franklin Gateway Sports Complex. Head coach Gonzalo Pineda will address the attendees before the training session begins. Pineda wants to establish this as a tradition moving forward, according to the release.

It’s quite remarkable how differently Gonzalo Pineda approaches interaction with the media (both in house and external) and fans compared to former Atlanta United head coach Gabriel Heinze. I’m not sure if the Seattle Sounders have ever done anything like this while Pineda was there as an assistant coach, but Pineda’s approach to involving the fan base in is something to be admired.
