Four days removed from an aggravating performance on the road in Philadelphia, Atlanta United returns to right their wrongs and move back up the table against regional foe Inter Miami CF. The Five Stripes dropped just out of reach of the postseason positions with the 1-0 defeat, down to eighth in the Eastern Conference. A home field advantage may just be what the team needs to mend the lackluster offensive output we saw on Saturday at Subaru Park and propel Atlanta back up the table in a return to form.
Atlanta United is yet to win against the south Floridians, going 0-3-2 all time including a 1-1 draw earlier this year. However, Inter is on a bit of a slump as of late, losing their last two matches in shocking fashion, conceding a combined nine goals between them. The return of Josef Martinez to the lineup makes that stat look a lot tastier, and a first win against the Herons could boost the Five Stripes all the way up to fourth in the tight playoff race.
The schedule returns to regional broadcasting with the match tonight, airing on Bally Sports South with still very limited options for streaming if you happen to be within the regional blackout area.
Will Atlanta return to the form we saw only a couple weeks prior? Can Josef bring life back into the attack? Be sure to check out our match preview and predicted lineups as we get ready for this evening’s kickoff, then come join us back here in the match thread below as we take in all the action from the Benz.
