ATL UTD 2 adds goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira

A new signing between the sticks for the USL club.

While Atlanta United may be looking to add pieces to its USL Championship roster today through the MLS SuperDraft, it was able to directly ink a goalkeeper directly from the college ranks to join Paul Christensen in the rotation.

Columbia’s Dylan Castanheira, a New Jersey native, has signed a contract with ATL UTD 2, a move first reported by Ives Galarcep and announced by the club today. Castanheira ended his senior campaign as the Ivy League defender of the year and posted 25 clean sheets over his tenure, a program record. Across 16 starts in 2018, he allowed 13 goals and recorded 5 shutouts.

Castanheira has some experience playing overseas - he was a member of Bristol City’s U-18 side, but despite being called up to the U-21 team, he decided to return to the U.S. and enroll in college. He has also trialed with Ipswich Town FC and was invited to trial with Stoke City as well.

Welcome to Atlanta, Dylan!
